The word “Rajmahal” in Hindi vernacular, literally means “The Palace”. Located in one of the most picturesque part of the state, the Palace Rajmahal, is situated on the banks of river Banas with the Aravalli hills encircling it. Rajmahal is a fairy tale destination and it mesmerizes the visitors with its magnificence and scenic beauty.

The Rajmahal Palace was built about 350 years ago by Rai Singh Sisodia the great grandson of Maharana Pratap of Mewar, as his personal resort. He chose this site for his palace because of its scenic beauty and grandeur. Later this area came under the Maharaja of Jaipur who gave Rajmahal to Rao Shambhu Singh of Duni in 1798 A.D. The first floor of the building was constructed by the Duni family in the 19th century.

Hotel Rajmahal Palace offers 15 rooms decorated in Traditional Rajasthani style. The interiors in their simplicity, elegance and attention to detail, showcase all that is finest in modern and traditional Indian craftsmanship. Rooms have beautiful river side garden with a splendid view of Aravali hills. As one might expect, every conceivable modern comfort is provided.

Rooms and Suites at the Rajmahal Palace are featured with authentic royal environment, in a traditional Rajasthani setting where tranquillity prevails, interspersed with the sounds of nature. Each room features royal furniture with paintings, depicting glory of the past Rajvada (Royal) palaces. All the rooms have attached bath with running hot and cold water facilities.

Rajmahal Palace is a perfect refuge to get away from the hustle-bustle of a typical metro life and get soaked in the pristine surroundings. Besides comfortable stay at the resort, there are numerous activities that one can indulge in. The rustic countryside around Rajmahal provides a unique opportunity for visitors to appreciate and understand Rajasthani culture and way of life.

Rajmahal Palace and the country side around has numerous historical monuments. Visitors can visit these historic monuments and ruins such as the revered Bisaldev Temple, or admire the architecture of the Stepwell at Toda Rai Singh.

Dine & Wine

Rajasthani, Mughlai or Continental food is served in the Nau Chaukiya Mahal (the palace of nine squares) overlooking the Banas in Rajmahal Palace. The more romantically oriented torchlit dinners on boats with local musicians can be arranged. Riverside lunches and picnics can also be arranged on request. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the terrace while watching the sunrise over the Banas river flowing through the hills or in the riverside garden.

Thakur Amar Singh Ji, famous for writing the world's longest continuous diaries, brought out a series of notes on recipes, interestingly even specifying the type of metal utensils for cooking particular dishes. Revival of ancient royal cuisine or "thikana" recipes is an added attraction at our hotels. The special royal thalis served at Rajmahal Palace are a treat to the soul. Mouth watering special menu is served.

You can savor specialities ranging from delicious traditional Rajasthani cuisine consisting of delicacies like dal bati and churma. Chandrahaas, the heritage brew is a blend of natural ingredients of 80 herbs, spices and dry fruits. Distilled and matured in wooden casks which are exotic and stimulative in nature.

In the royal kitchens of Rajasthan, food was very serious business and raised to the level of an art-form. Hundreds of cooks worked in the stately palaces and kept their recipes very closely guarded secret. Some recipes were passed on to their sons and the rest were lost forever. It was a matter of great prestige to serve unusual dishes to guests and the royal cooks were encouraged to experiment. The tales of how cooks tried to impress their guests by presenting at least one unforgettable item on the menu have now become legends. The monthly budget ran into lakhs of rupees and the royal guests were treated mouth-watering delicacies.
