Naukuchia Tal or a lake of nine corner's is a small hill station, situated at an elevation of 1,220 mts  in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. This misty blue lake is approximately 1 km in length and depth of around 40 mts. It is the deepest lake in the region and fed by an underground perennial spring.

According to myths and some tales, if one happens to get a glimpse of all the nine corners in one go, can disappear in a cloud of smoke to attain nirvana. This is feat is impossible, it just proves that the lake by far is too big to see all nine corners at once without moving.

Naukuchiatal is nestled in an enchanting valley, surrounded by hills covered in trees and shrubs. The salubrious climate, serene environs and panoramic vistas makes this place a much sought after tourist destination. The pristine lake is a perfect place to be with your family, go on promenades, relax, enjoy and partake in the amusements like rowing, paddling and yatching.

Bhimtal

Situated in the cool climes at 1,371 mts above sea-level, Bhimtal is the largest lake in the only lake district of India. It is a perennial lake which supports a large variety of aquatic life and is a winter stopover for migratory birds. The pristine surroundings, the crystal clear lake, the tranquillity and serenity is a boon to enjoy and cherish.

According to legend, Bhimtal came into existence when the mighty Bhim one of the Pandavas dug the earth to get water for quenching their thirst during their forced exile(vanvas). A lake was formed at the spot where he dug for water. The small island in the middle of the lake represents the area where he had placed his vessel. This is how   Bhim, lent his name to the tal(lake). An ancient temple dedicated to Bhimeshwar Mahadev, stands to this date by the placid lake.
