Gushaini is a small town on the banks of the babbling Tirthan stream, nestled amidst the gentle slopes of orchards with the lofty snowy Himalayan peaks in its backdrop. A perfect spot- its beautiful, cool, calm, serene and just ideal to unwind and rejuvenate and special being far away from the maddening summer crowds that throng Manali and Simla. Famous for its trout, its known as a Trout Country and is on every anglers wish list.


Gushaini is the place to head for a long break away from all worldly cares and worries. Just idle days spent in a cottage high up in the mountains, basking in the sun with the dear ones and  avian friends for company, sauntering, lazing under the shade of tree else a leisure filled morning in bed by the window watching the river rush over innumerable rocks and star gazing after sundown. Adventure seekers too have a lot to look out for.

Gushaini caters to outdoor activities like trekking, rock climbing, angling, white water rafting and many more for the adventurous travellers. The Himalayan National Park, a vast expanse of forest is an ideal place for trekking and rock climbing. Tourists also have the option of picnicking in the wilderness.


While at Gushaini let time standstill, just indulge in days full of fun and bliss. No plans with no targets, let all actions and choices be impromptu. Enjoy each day and make it momentous, for you and your family have umpteenth things to do. Spend lazy days in a hammock with a book else doze in warmth of the afternoon sun. Amble through the orchards, pick few luscious apricots or taste some if you want; find a shady spot soak in the natural environ - listen, observe and appreciate the world of nature. Go angling, its a stream in which trout abound. Get out of this limbo, a swim in the crystal clear, icy waters of Tirthan will work wonders.


Evenings are time for merrymaking, sing and dance by a bonfire under the light of zillions of stars.


Such leisure filled days are therapeutic, the crispy fried trout delectable, the light banter and merrymaking rejuvenating! All in all it is time well spent!



A visit to Shoja is an absolute must. This is a small village at about 8000 ft, on the way to Jalori pass. Its an hour drive on a steep road with slight bumps via Banjar and Jibi, gets you to this scenic village. The drive up is picturesque with dense forests, small waterfalls, green fields and innumerable little chai shops with the wafting aroma of tea luring one to halt for a steaming hot cup, an opportune moment to enjoy the countryside too.


From Jalori Pass one can do the 6 km trek to Seruvalsar Lake through forests full of oak, blue pine, spruce, fir and deodar trees. Not a place for those with acrophobia.
