Garh Tordi, is a small village in the Tonk district of Rajasthan. The village has an impressive Fort which is perched on top of one of the hills and the Tordi Palace is positioned at the foothills, right in the middle of this wonderfull village. The Aravalli range that surrounds this village, covers an area of 30 kms and abounds in natural beauty. The Fort & Palace were established in the 16th century by Thakur Akhey Singhji of the Khangarot clan of Rajputs. The Garh has now opened its doors to guests who are willing to experience the chivalrous hospitality of a Rajput chieftain and relive the glory of a bygone age. The village seems untouched by the hustle & bustle of the city life. The village offers a superb opportunity to anyone who is interested in typical Indian village life.


The village boasts of a water reservoir which covers 25 kms of area and is the home to a number of migratory birds and a series of hills and a long stretch of sand dunes where one can enjoy horse as well as camel ride. Also the forests, seasonal rivers and canals, step wells and ancient temples are features of the area, where local communities still live as they have done so for centuries and green farms stretch around the village. The beauty of ancient step wells, temples and the timelessness of nature at its best can be felt here.


Toda Raisingh

The town next, further down towards south of Tordi is the picturesque town of Toda Raisingh, surrounded by hills and pristine wilderness. It is an ancient town of archaeological significance. In earlier times, it was also known as Takshakagadha or Takshakpur, Todapattan, Ishtikapur, etc. Founded by the Nagas in or around 4th century, this town was also ruled by Yuhilas of Chatsu and Chauhans of Ajmer. In 15th & 16th centuries, it was the capital of Solanki Rajputs. The town got its present name from Rai Singh Sisodia, the famous ruler of this place. He was a Mughal 'Mansoobdar' during the reign of Shahjahan. Toda Rai Singh is blessed with glorious historical past as well as rich cultural heritage. It has a number of places of tourist interest. Prominent among them are - Hadi Rani Ki Baori (kund), Raja Rai Singh's Mahal, Isar Baori, Bhopat Baori and beautiful temples of Kalyanji, Raghoraiji, Gopinathji, Govinddeoji, etc. Bijolia inscription of V.E. 1226 suggests that Toda Rai Singh was a popular centre of Jainism.

Garh Tordi is a small village near town Malpura on Jaipur-Kekri route in Tonk district, which constitutes the central Rajasthan and the town Toda Raisingh lies 27 km further south of Garh Tordi.



Garh Tordi is 90 km south-west of Jaipur.
